Day by day

Day 1
Into Negros, up to Kanlaon

Base Canlaon, Negros Oriental
- Fly Manila or Cebu to Bacolod, then road to Canlaon — about 3–4h
Arrive on Negros and climb into the cool country beneath Kanlaon. Walk the forest trails and viewpoints of the volcano's lower slopes (check the alert level; the summit closes when raised).
Day 2
South to Dumaguete & Dauin

Base Dauin/Dumaguete, Negros Oriental
- Canlaon down to the Dauin coast — about 4–5h
A long, scenic transfer down the island to the dive coast of Dauin, gateway to Apo Island. Settle in for two nights.
Day 3
Apo Island

Base Dauin/Dumaguete, Negros Oriental
- Boat to Apo Island for snorkelling and diving
Out to Apo Island to drift over coral gardens with grazing green turtles — one of the country's first and best community marine sanctuaries.
Day 4
Ferry to Siquijor

Base Siquijor
- Fastcraft Dumaguete to Siquijor — about 1h
Cross to Siquijor and loop the island by motorbike: the blue pools of Cambugahay, a coral sanctuary at Tubod or Paliton, and sunset on a west-coast beach.
Day 5
Siquijor, then home

- Ferry back to Dumaguete for the flight out — allow a half-day
A last swim before ferrying back to Dumaguete to fly home, closing the southern-Visayas loop.

March to May, the dry season, brings the calmest water and best visibility for Apo Island and Siquijor's reefs and the most reliable ferries. The wider dry window (November to May) works; June to October is wetter with rougher crossings. Apo Island can close on rough-sea days year-round.

🧭 Getting around

Fly into Bacolod (or straight into Dumaguete to skip the Kanlaon leg) and use hired vans down Negros; Apo Island and Siquijor are reached by banca and fastcraft from the Dauin/Dumaguete coast. Siquijor is best explored by rented motorbike or hired tricycle.

Know before you go

Kanlaon is an active volcano monitored by PHIVOLCS — the summit climb closes on raised alerts; this route keeps to the safe lower slopes and viewpoints.
Apo Island caps visitors and can be called off in rough seas; keep the marine day flexible and never touch or crowd the turtles.
Siquijor is small and easily looped by motorbike — pay the small sanctuary and waterfall fees that fund conservation.
Ferry and road times are approximate and shift with sea state and traffic.

The southern tip of the Visayas is the region at its most unhurried: the big island of Negros sloping down from an active volcano to a coral coast, and just offshore the small, folklore-wrapped island of Siquijor. This loop links them into an easy five days — a forest morning under Kanlaon, two nights on the Dauin dive coast for the turtle sanctuary at Apo Island, and a final hop to Siquijor’s blue waterfalls and reef-fringed beaches.

It is a route about water and pace rather than distance. Come in the calm dry season, fly a clean line in and out, and let the ferries and the island roads set the rhythm — this is the corner of the country you slow down for.
