- The El Nido–Coron fast ferry is weather-dependent and does get cancelled; keep a buffer day and consider the short flight as backup.
- El Nido caps and fees its island-hopping tours (routes A–D) and charges an eco-tourism fee; book tours a day ahead in peak season.
- The Puerto Princesa Underground River needs a permit that sells out in high season — arrange it in advance.
- Tubbataha is a liveaboard-only, advanced-diver trip in a short season — plan it as its own expedition, not a day add-on.
Palawan is the island that tops the world’s-best lists, and this is the route that earns it the reputation: a south-to-north traverse from the underground river at Sabang, up the island’s spine to El Nido’s Bacuit Bay, and across a glittering strait to Coron’s crater lakes and sunken fleet. Give it a week if you can, and treat the sea with respect — the crossings that make the trip so scenic are also the ones that weather can close. Come in the dry season, fly in to Puerto Princesa and out of Coron, and keep a spare day for the ferry.
